We had to include Dan right? Dan Brown’s website, like Haruki Murakami’s, is very aware of the things that the author and his books successful, and takes full advantage of them in the website’s design. In Brown’s instance, the detective mystery themes, and ‘code cracking’ motifs of his most successful novel ‘The Da Vinci Code’ is evident in the dark colour scheme of the site and floating symbols and glyphs. The information design is also clever and engaging, prompting visitors to take a journey as they scroll down the home page, finding clues to crack a code which they can enter for an award at the bottom. The visitor interaction here is rare and unique, and is a very clever reference to Brown’s work.
