Who said that author websites had to have complex visuals and loads of content? Clare Atkin’s website attests to the minimalist who understands what’s important, and what needs to comes first. In this case the reader’s attention is directed to the site content, such as the author’s photograph on the home page and the navigational menu. The watercolour background hints at the themes of Clare’s work, and effectively sets a tone for the website, but it doesn’t steal center stage from more important elements.
